Certified Communications Co. is a consulting and engineering firm specializing in industrial data-acquisition, process- control, and data communications systems. Founded in 1982, Certified has developed an enviable reputation for delivering the goods. As a full-service development house, we supply everything required for most applications, including elegant custom software, data acquisition hardware and transducers, even retail computer sales and networking expertise. All of our computer hardware is custom-built to project specifications, and on-site service agreements are available.
Successful software development involves more than technical skill alone: it involves the crucial ability to communicate. Our clients know what they want to accomplish, but may not know how to make a computer perform the task. Consequently, it is vital that we communicate the possibilities to our clients, and that we listen to what they have to tell us. Too often a software developer fails to make an accurate assessment of product requirements, which invariably results in an inappropriate application and an unhappy customer. That will not happen with Certified Communications.
The following are examples of the many successful projects delivered to our industrial clients, with capsule descriptions. If you would like to know more about our off- the-shelf systems, or are would like to discuss development of a custom product, click HERE to request more information.
- GapMaster - Roll Gap Sled Monitor System
This patented remote data-acquisition system was developed for the Westinghouse Industry Services Division. GapMaster is a radio-linked data acquisition system, with a remote battery- powered CPU sampling displacement and angle data from the inside of a continuous steel casting (CONCAST) machine.
StampMaster - Automotive Stamping Press Force Monitor System Also developed for the Westinghouse Industry Services Division. This product monitors eight channels of real-time load-cell-generated force data developed within the giant stamping presses used by automotive manufacturers. By providing managment with feedback on press activity, production methods were fine-tuned to provide better quality parts, less downtime and less wastage than ever before. Also capable of detecting conditions leading to equipment failure, so that service could be performed before expensive repairs were required, or catastrophic failure occurred..
BrakeMaster - Automotive Parking Brake Life-Cycle Monitor System BrakeMaster monitors the wear generated in automotive parking brakes, as they are cycled repeatedly in a specialized test fixture. Typically several hundred thousand cycles would be performed, with a test period measured in days or weeks of continuous operation. A key element of life-cycle testing is that the control system be more reliable that the parts being tested. All of the life-cycle systems mentioned here are extroaordinarily reliable, and have been run continuously for years with no malfunctions.
SeatMaster - Automotive Seat Life-Cycle Control System Similar in principle to the BrakeMaster unit, SeatMaster utilizes a proportionally controlled pneumatic cylinder to generate specific forces upon an automotive seat bracket. Brackets are run until failure, and when the software detects component failure a status report is automatically generated.
TrackMaster I - Automotive Seat-Track Life-Cycle Control System Yet another life-cycling system. This particular control cycles car seat tracks (which permit a seat to be slid forward and backward) until failure. An electric linear actuator was employed, mounted upon a custom test fixture. The user interface was text-based, which was limiting in terms of data analysis. While the system functioned flawlessly, the client ultimately required more speed, which eventually resulted in ...
TrackMaster // - Automotive Seat-Track Life-Cycle Control System Functionally identical to TrackMaster I, the updated product has an hydraulic actuator, uses the CertiCommCo graphical interface, and has over three times the performance of it's predecessor. The advanced interface permitted the programmers to display live force curves, as well as detailed information pertaining to system operation and status of the part-under- test.
BenchMaster - FMVSS-207/210 Hydraulic Vehicle Seat Testing System This high-powered test system literally destroys car seats. Three 10,000 lb. hydraulic actuators, controlled by a sophisticated software-stabilized force-feedback loop, are attached at specific points on a seat. Power is applied to all cylinders, and the seat is pulled to pieces through three successive test phases. Independent force curves may be specified for each cylinder. The resulting test reports conform to the Federal Government's FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Seat Specification) 207/210 requirements. Automotive suppliers are not permitted, by law, to sell any seat which does not pass the FMVSS 207/210 test procedure.
ScrewMaster DT-100 - Advanced Drill-Time Measurement System Used by drill-screw manufacturers for final product testing. An air-driven test fixture drives parts to a specified depth, and the actual "drill time" is measured by the software. A graphic report is generated for each statistical sample of 25- 50 parts, which includes a cover page, a data page and a histogram. Multiple systems are in daily use by some of the world's largest drill-screw makers. Data generated by the DT- 100 is input to SPC (Statistical Process Control) systems.
ScrewMaster ATMS-1000 - Advanced Torque-Tension Measurement System The big brother to the DT-100, the ATMS-1000 is the most sophisticated product of its kind. This complex data acquisition and control system monitors multiple data channels simultaneously in real-time (torque, tension, angle, RPM and end-load) and generates on-screen and printed graphs, performs real-time numerical analysis, and determines optimal torque- down requirements. Both air motor and DC brushless servo motor fixture drives are supported.
See sample screen displays below.
SplineMaster - Spline-Shaft Diameter Measurement System Calculates shaft diameter using a 3-point displacement technique. Three LVDT (linear voltage-distance transducers) are mounted asymmetrically around the cylindrical part-under- test. Similar products require complicated and highly stable test fixturing to meet minimum accuracy requirements. SplineMaster employs a proprietary algorithm to position the part mathematically, simplifying fixture design and manufacture, and increasing overall accuracy and stability.
A.R.D.I.T.H. - Automated Remote Document Interface & Transfer Host With the advent of ISO-900x, manufacturers of all kinds are finding themselves at a loss when it comes to maintaining document compliancy. ISO-9000 requires a centralized source of engineering documents, and further requires that all manufacturing sites have access to current documents. This is a snap with ARDITH: set up an ARDITH server at your engineering facility, and install ARDITH clients at your remote sites. Documents are accessed quickly and easily by part number, and multiple documents may be attached to a single number. Both AutoCAD and scanned images are supported, and up to one hundred part numbers may be entered prior to downloading and printing.

The ATMS-1000 is a complete hardware/software solution to laboratory and production testing of self-tapping threaded fasteners. Drive torque, strip torque, clamp load, RPM, and angle are acquired simultaneously in real-time. A powerful report generator is built-in to document your test results, and ScrewMaster can be customized to match your precise requirements.
The ARDITH system provides remote engineering document access for multi-site manufacturing operations. If you need to maintain ISO-900x compliance, look into ARDITH to keep remote plants supplied with the latest AutoCAD and scanned drawings from your engineering facility.
